ABOUT THE OWNER
My name is Tom Hamway. In 1973, while on summer break as a student at Rutgers University, it occurred to me that working for someone else no longer appealed to me. I had spent the previous two summers working for a paving company. I found myself drawn to the personal satisfaction of starting my own business. While dining at a local restaurant, I met an "older" gentleman...26 years of age. Before I'd stepped out of that restaurant, I'd signed a contract on a paper napkin to provide 60 paved driveways at his father's new home development. I purchased my first truck three days later for $400. By summer's end I'd acquired a new dump truck, a paving machine, and associated equipment. Jersey Paving was born. From this point on I pursued an engineering degree on a part time basis. The company grew into a full-fledged Bonded Municipal State Road construction company. We built many of the roads you drive on today.
The sealcoating, or Asphalt Maintenance Division (San Sealcoating, Inc.) opened in April of 1986. As it turned out, our first job was not simply a driveway, but a very large hotel parking lot and road - the Holiday Inn on Davidson Avenue in Somerset, NJ. The company has been renamed for Tom's son Kristopher.
ABOUT US
We will not sealcoat your driveway unless it is in your best interest. We are very knowledgeable about bituminous concrete (asphalt) and the care of your pavement. We can answer just about any question that you may have. We're pleased to advise you with reference to the integrity of your existing pavement and as to its life expectancy. We are proud to provide our sealcoating service using only the very best materials, equipment, and methods available. We guarantee that all jobs will be performed to the highest standards.
